Yarn’n Launches Indigenous-Inspired Recycled Toilet Paper Supporting Conservation

Yarn’n, an Indigenous-owned company in Australia, has recently launched a new line of toilet paper made entirely from recycled materials sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests. The company’s manufacturing processes are designed with a strong emphasis on environmental conservation, utilizing significantly less water and energy compared to traditional methods.

By committing to responsible sourcing practices and obtaining the FSC Promotional Licence Holder status in 2023, Yarn’n has demonstrated its dedication to combating climate change and biodiversity loss. The CEO and founder, Lane Stockton, highlighted the company’s mission of protecting and preserving forests for the benefit of all.

The unique aspect of Yarn’n’s recycled toilet paper lies in its Indigenous-inspired artwork, showcasing totems, artist profiles, and dreamtime stories that celebrate and uphold First Nations cultures. In a bid to support Indigenous education, Yarn’n has partnered with Yalari, allocating 50% of its profits to fund educational and leadership opportunities for Indigenous youth.

Melanie Robertson, CEO of FSC ANZ, commended Yarn’n for its comprehensive approach towards sustainability, emphasizing the critical role of supporting healthy forests in maintaining biodiversity and community well-being. The company’s collaboration with artist Bayley Mifsud, from the Peek and Kirrae Whurrong clans of the Mar Nation in Warrnambool, South West Victoria, further underscores its commitment to Indigenous representation and cultural preservation.
