Pooch Paper: Unveiling the Artistic World of Keith Puccinelli

Step into the creative realm of the renowned graphic designer and artist, Keith Puccinelli, affectionately known as Pooch, through a captivating exhibition at the Art, Design & Architecture Museum. Delve into the life and works of Puccinelli in the showcase titled “POOCH: The Art Full Life of Keith Julius Puccinelli” running from Sept. 7 to Dec. 15.

The exhibition offers a unique insight into Puccinelli’s artistic journey, featuring a collection of over 600 drawings, sculptures, posters, and more, spanning six decades. Pooch’s artistry aimed to convey ideas and emotions, drawing inspiration from his surroundings and personal experiences to establish connections with viewers.

Originating as an award-winning graphic designer, Puccinelli transitioned to a full-time fine artist in 1998, leaving a remarkable impact on the Southern California art scene. The showcase not only honors Puccinelli’s legacy but also acknowledges his significant contributions alongside his wife, Frances Garvin Puccinelli, to the local arts community.

The exhibition highlights Puccinelli’s witty and poignant approach to art and design, exploring themes of humor and tragedy that animated his creations. Additionally, it places his work within the context of his regional contemporaries and influential artists, shedding light on his profound impact on the art world.

As a celebration of Puccinelli’s artistry, the showcase includes the generous donation of over 600 original works of art and the artist’s complete archive to the AD&A Museum in 2018. A forthcoming catalog accompanying the exhibition will provide further insights into Puccinelli’s artistic process, offering a comprehensive look at his diverse body of work.
